Loving God, loving people, serving the world.

Our Staff

Pastor Nellie Cloninger
Graduated from Harrisburg Polyclinic School of Nursing (diploma RN); Lycoming College (BA Near Eastern Archeology); Duke Divinity School, Master of Divinity degree. Married to Rev. J. Scott Cloninger since 1980.  We have three adult children and 3 one year old grandchildren.
What I enjoy most about my job in general is being with people of all ages, sharing God’s love, meeting people from all walks of life, preaching the good news of God’s unconditional love, sharing God’s Holy Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion;   and here at Friendship, experiencing Church as the body of Christ that truly cares not only for one another in our fellowship but for people everywhere and that live out their call to be in ministry through worship leadership, music, prayer, knitting and crocheting, and a multitude of other ways.
Favorite scripture is ROMANS 5:6 & 8 “For when we were still helpless, Christ died for the wicked at the time that God chose. ..But God has shown us how much he loves us -- it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us!”

Music Director Pam Chapman
I came to know the Lord as Savior at the age of eight in my home.  At the age of 14 I began my music ministry as church pianist in a local church.  At twenty I came to a personal understanding of Jesus Christ and finally understood grace.  My desire in ministry is to use my gifts and talents to further the gospel of Christ, to help the church become a place where the arts are seen as awesome venues of ministry, and to serve alongside people of God who are servants of the Lord.  I am a divorced mother with 5 children and 3 grandchildren, my life is busy but enjoyable as I do my best to juggle family, work and life.
Things that bring joy to my heart include: leading and seeing others come to Christ, seeing others use their gifts in ministry, and watching people become worshipers of God through their personal worship times and through lifestyles of worship.
I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve the Lord at Friendship United Methodist Church.

Secretary Peggy Freese
I was born in West Virginia and moved to South Carolina when I was four years old. I graduated from Rock Hill High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University in Business Administration with emphasis in finance and a minor in mathematics. I married my wonderful husband, Dale, in 2001. I have two married children, six grandchildren, and am “critter-momma” to two large breed dogs. After working in the telecommunications industry for many years, I retired in 2004 to be a “nanny” to my middle granddaughter. I began working at Friendship in May 2009. In addition, I am a freelance literary editor working primarily for a publishing house based in Queensland, Australia. Being a United Methodist made the transition into the secretarial role easy. I love my “Friendship” family and feel blessed to serve this church.

Custodian Rachel Garner
Rachel started work for Friendship church in April of 1980.  Her desire to have the church looking its best at all times is so appreciated by the congregation. Her smile and willingness to go above and beyond make her a valued member of our Friendship team.
